Check out: High Noon
Red Barn Inn, nestled in the mountains of Western Maryland and walking distance to the edge of Deep Creek Lake is the perfect escape from the busy-ness of your everyday. It is our labor of love and we can not wait to share it with you.
As far as we can discover, our Red Barn Inn began as the Harvey farm in the early 1800’s, well before the existence of Deep Creek Lake! The Harvey family had a huge dairy farm and if you wander through the lower portion of the barn, you will see clues of their cows everywhere even today.
The stone house that is located on the property and in front of the pond to was originally built in the 1800’s as well with the stone facade addition dating to the 1920’s. This home is currently in the midst of a full renovation and will be available as a 6 bedroom vacation home sometime in the late spring or early summer.
Some time in the 1970’s, the Harvey family decided that the farm was better suited for potato farming so they started growing potatoes for Snyder’s of Berlin. The patriarch of the family was even a board member of Snyder’s of Hanover and would return home after board meetings with bags of chips for everyone!
Many of you met and enjoyed the hospitality of Fred & Tammy who purchased the farm in the 90’s from the Harvey family, built the inn, and turned the beautiful barn into a wedding venue! Through luck and happenstance, our little team at Red Barn Inn was able to purchase the property for our own in late 2019.
