Joan Crawford Lecture Series: The Patel Case Study: Supervision, Risk Analysis, and Accident Prevention in Outdoor Leadership

Joan Crawford Lecture Series: The Patel Case Study: Supervision, Risk Analysis, and Accident Prevention in Outdoor Leadership

Join us on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 6:00 pm at the Performing Arts Center for our Joan Crawford Lecture Series (JCLS).

Dr.Robert Kauffman will present "The Patel Case Study: Supervision, Risk Analysis, and Accident Prevention in Outdoor Leadership.”

On June 11, 2022, Sheetal Patel sat on a rock next to the main current of the Colorado River as part of a “cooling-off” activity on a commercial raft trip. Her water bottle fell into the water, and she was swept away in the main current. The case study revisits how we, as outdoor leaders, supervise our groups. Additionally, the presentation incorporates situational awareness, barrier analysis, and risk management as part of the accident prevention process.

The Joan Crawford Lecture Series of presentations is offered free of charge, and the public and community members are invited to attend. All presentations will be available to view online through the College's YouTube page.
