HR Roundtable: New Federal Overtime Rule & Minimum Wage

Did you know on September 24, 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor announced a final rule to make 1.3 million American workers newly eligible for overtime pay?
Under the new rule, most salaried workers who earn less than about $35,500 per year will be eligible for time-and-a-half overtime pay, up from the current threshold of about $23,700.
The new federal overtime rule along with a minimum wage increase to $11.00 per hour takes effect January 1, 2020.
To help educate employers on what they need to do in order to be in compliance, we are welcoming back Doug Desmarais, a labor and employment attorney with the firm Smith & Downey.
