America’s State Parks First Day Hikes offer individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on January 1, 2013 at a state park.

Join in the fun at 3 park systems in Garrett County including Herrington Manor State Park.

Degree of Difficulty: Easy
Minimum Age for Kids: None
Length of the Trail: 1.0 miles
Things to Bring: Participants should wear clothes and shoes appropriate for the weather (rain, snow or shine), and bring water for drinking and a camera (optional).

Join park staff for a hike of the area around the lake and learn how different animals deal with winter weather and the ecology of the park. Hot chocolate and coffee will be served in the Lake House after the hike.
